Recent 3D Works

Hi,everyone! This will be another lengthy post of mine. I will share  my works as a 3D artist for a VR project during the past year :). All models are done with 3Ds Max, normals baked with xNormal and additionally processed with Quixel's NDO, textures with Quixel's DDO and integrated into the game with Unreal Engine 4. Lets see what we got here :P .

Starting with nice comfy chair where the player "sits"and watches a lap dance of a stripper in the bar. The normals are done only in NDO! There was no time for high poly and anyway the low poly was taking me forever to finish, so i improvised. The normal map is one crazy photomanipulation of normal maps but the end result is totally worth it! :D Check out the full 3D model on my Artstation

A tasty donut health pickup :). Nothing special for the model itself. Just a regular torus :D. On the other hand the texturing was a pain since i had to literally create another photomanipulation. The end result is relatively plausible xD.

A tape player without a tape :D. This is a collaborative work between me and my colleague Gergana Petkanska . Very talented artist! Make sure to check out her gallery ;).
So the first pic is her concept art and then we split up the work. I did the base of the tape player, while she did the buttons and the cables. Both of us baked our normal maps and in the end i finished up the model with adding the textures. In the engine the tape player was assembled with the help of a blueprint and later populated throughout the entire game. You can see how it looks like on the screen shots at the end. My second model ever for the game. Lots of dread and difficulties for a beginner like me that i was last year, but in the end i managed to handle it ^^. The struggle was real! :D 360 degrees view here.

Another tasty health pick up and another photomanip struggle while texturing >.>. 360 degrees view here.

The hazard ride bot is the result of a joint effort of the entire team! :D Concept art was done by Gergana Petkanska and modeling and texturing by me. This poor vehicle went through so many iterations until we get the right size and shape. Everyone in the team gave their advices and ideas and in the end we got a nice and fully functional game ready model. Anim trails were added later but sadly i couldn't take a screen shot of them :(. 360 degrees model here.

A keycard ( more like a cartridge tho, but who asks me xD) for a padlock that is a part of a puzzle :).
Concept art by Gergana Petkanska, modelling and texturing by me. 360 degrees view here.

And this is the padlock! Concept art by Gergana Petkanska, modeling and texturing by me. The red and green buttons glow and blink, additionally the screens are done inside the material editor of Unreal engine 4. From there on our programmers and level designer did their magic and the final screen shot is the result :3. Level here was still in gray box state :). 360 degrees view here.

A trashcan prop for a ... trashcan basketball xD and i am serious!

The first ever professional model that i did when i first joined the studio :D. The struggle was beyond unreal! This watch shows the health of the player :). 360 degrees view here.

A zipline model for the zipline rides inside the game :). I also animated the wheels with 3Ds Max! :D
360 degrees view here.

The poor armory model has a very sad story - brutally butchered in the last minute due to insane time constraints and lack of proper testing and iterations. Originally it looked like what was drawn on the concept art, but then we realized that it was too high for the player to reach and so i had to cut it in half :(. Concept art by Gergana Petkanska,  modeling and texturing by me. Screen shots are from the gray box state of the level.

One of my last models. You can see the ramp on the previous screenshots too. We use this for the locomotion of the game for smooth traversing in the level. Concept art by Gergana Petkanska, modeling and texturing by me.

And so with this i am wrapping up my long blog post :D. Hope you enjoyed looking through my short 3D adventure :3. In the future i will try to share more personal 3D works like the Pillars project, but right now i am in a 3D artblock xD. Plus i am just about to start diving into the Zbrush territory and i am sure it will be one hell of a ride! :D

Not Machine

... I am not a machine... I am a human...  At last! After like 3 months or so of struggles and stealing from what's left from my free time i finally managed to finish this artwork. It is inspired by the brilliant speech by Charlie Chaplin at the end of his movie "The great dictator" and particularly this part: "Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts!" So the idea of the person trying to break free from the machine parts came to my mind instantly. I hope that you will like it!  Credits: https://silviet-stock.deviantart.com/art/Me-fake-blood-strange-pose-10-252626534 https://amka-stock.deviantart.com/art/stock-stormy-sky-credit-and-show-the-result-436785403 https://araken-starway.deviantart.com/art/Iron-Scrap-stock-52726083 https://thecaprice.deviantart.com/art/stockpile-14-93455971 ...

Vili's bizarre 3D printing adventures, part 2 -The Robo-cat

Hello, dear readers! Welcome to another episode of Vili's bizarre 3D printing adventures! Today I am going to tell you the story of one 3D printed Robo-cat!  It was the award of a challenge me and the other students accepted as part of the 3Ds Max course at CGZEN . Whoever creates the best looking cat will receive a 3D printed model of it. Strangely enough I was given the honor to print the kitty! The lucky winner was Stanislava Zahova and this is her Robo-cat: Robo-cat by Stanislava Zahova Isn't it just cute? :3 Model analysis We can divide the parts in two groups - with and without supports. The head, tail and legs clearly need to be supported, while the paws, neck, body, torso and back won't need any supports at all. In terms of resolution this model can use the faster settings since there aren't much details on it. The cat needed to be scaled just a little bit, not like the previous model we discussed here . The final size was around 12-13 cm high. ...

Vili's bizarre 3D printing adventures, part 9 - The lizard warrior

Hello, everyone! I am back with the 100th anniversary post since the beginning of this blog back in 2013! Can't believe seven years passed just like that! The end of  Vili's bizarre 3D printing adventures is slowly moving towards it's end, but don't worry I will continue to write about my personal projects and what I stumbled upon while working on them. The topic of today's journal entry is about one very skilled lizard desert warrior created by Katrin Staneva for the  Character design course at CGZEN . Lizard desert warior by Katrin Staneva He is ready for battle! Better watch out! Model analysis This is not a very easy model to be honest. It is separated into eleven parts in total. There are a lot of details almost everywhere (except for the shoes) and also some of the pieces are small. The model imported into 3Ds Max The object was scaled in 3Ds Max up to 5200% which in Cura resulted as 14 cm height. It is within the limit described in the ...
